We had 2 soccer stars this summer! Sophie played her first season of soccer in August. And she was awesome! Jack picked up right where he left off in the spring and had another great season. This season also started goalie soccer for Jack so that was a fun change. He is a good goalie himself and was able to score a few goals too. Sophie was a delight to watch. She was so aggressive and scored a ton of goals and also saved a lot of goals by playing great defense. I wish I would have captured her face when she runs after the ball. It is pure determination and I love it! She can’t wait for spring to play again! Luke tried to be their biggest fan but 2 hours of soccer, 2 times per week almost did him in! Poor buddy had a hard time most games for whatever reason…tantrums, crying, etc. We will try to block it out before the next season!
The last weekend in July we went camping with my siblings up American Fork canyon. It was just for 2 nights and 2 days but it was so much fun. The kids loved being together and had the best time. I love sitting around the campfire at night, roasting marshmallows and laughing lots. Good times. We were able to spend most of the day Saturday at a little spot we found along the river. We also put together a little scavenger hunt for the kids when we got back to camp. It was fun to recreate some of my Barton Flats memories with my kids. All in all, it was an awesome weekend. But we learned that it is a lot of work to go camping even just for 2 nights. There is so much gear involved in camping. But our kids were good helpers and it is awesome to see how much they love it!
Luke is starting to write some letters. This was the day that he mastered the letter E. He can now write all the letters in his name except K. We are still working on that one.
One of the few summer nights that we got to bed early enough to read stories.
Another one of those triceratops pictures! Hahaha. We watched Porter for a few days while Kerri and James were on trek. We ventured out the dinosaur museum one day.
Dan and I had a little overnight getaway for our anniversary this year. We started out by hiking up to Timp Cave. It was so rad! I loved all of it. Then we went to Park City. Its good to getaway sometimes.
We got together one morning with friends from our old neighborhood. We love the Halvorsen’s. Our kids are great buddies. I made me miss the old days.
We took a trip to the Curiosity Museum with cousins.
We picked a bucket full of apricots at James’ parents house. And then me and Ker spent a morning making apricot jam and dehydrating them. Yum!
One day he read all day. I loved watching him try to take a break and then being sucked back in. He was near the end of book #2 and he couldn’t put it down. Love HP!
We went up to see the wildflowers one evening. It was so crowded! We almost gave up. But we found a spot near the bottom. It is so beautiful up there. Really we missed the peak of the bloom I think. But there were still some pretty colors and flowers to see. The kids loved exploring and finding places to climb. Utah is pretty spectacular…when its not freezing cold for 6 months. Love my family.
