We made it to the Tulip Festival 3 times this year. It is my favorite!
Just some random May shots. Shopping for sombreros, riding the ponies at Thanksgiving Point, and Luke’s injury after falling down the 2 cement stairs on our front porch. He is so injury/accident prone. Scares me for my future! I have been nursing a hamstring injury for a while now and some mornings I just need to walk instead of run. So Luke joins me in the stroller and we venture around. He loves it. We saw this license plate one day and had to take a picture. The last several months Jack has been obsessed with Bigfoot, Loch Ness monster, chupacabra, etc. It was too perfect that we just happened to see it! Dan’s mom hosted a Kentucky Derby party and had balloon horses for the kids to race on. Luke named his horse Johnson which we thought was hysterical and random. Johnson was lost to the trees and it caused many tears!
Daddy daughter fiesta!
We went to Jungle Jims with Kara on $2 Tuesday. The kids thought it was just about the funnest place they had ever been. I rode one ride and it nearly killed me. I was so sick afterwards for about 30 minutes but somehow managed to not barf.
We went to support Jack at his 5k race for school. But I failed as a parent and missed him coming in somehow even though we were out there waiting at the finish line the whole time. I have no idea how I missed him but I felt so sad about it!
Sophie had her dance recital and did such a great job. She danced to “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” from the Lion King. She has improved a lot this year with her technique. I am always impressed with her ability to remember the routine. But she always reminds me that they practice it “at least 100 times!” Love this talented little lady.
Jack had his last soccer game of the season. It was pouring rain. Of the 8 games this season, I think 2 had decent weather. Brrrr… His team was not the best this season which made it tough. But Jack had a positive attitude throughout the season and really does have a talent for the game.
Jack is turning into quite the reader. We showed the kids the first Harry Potter movie and then immediately Jack wanted to read the book. He is about 100 pages in. The first part of April he just decided he wanted to read the Book of Mormon all on his own. Every night before bed, he turns on his reading light and reads until he is tired. I am so proud of him. In 2 months he has already made it to Jacob. In the car the other day he explained to Sophie that he likes non-fiction books. He said “Like the Book of Mormon Sophie. It is a non-fiction book because it’s true and it has a great story.” He is the raddest kid.
Kara and Ryan blessed Hudson on May 22. It was fun to all be together. And taking this picture really made me realize that Sophie is so outnumbered!
Sophie graduated from preschool. She is so ready for Kindergarten. We have loved her class this year with Miss Liz. She has grown so much and I can’t wait to see her in elementary school.
We went to Jack’s last day of school to help with their pancake breakfast. It was fun to see him in his element. It made appreciate even more his sweet teacher Mrs. Christensen. She has loved Jack despite him being silly and talkative most days. I have loved her and am sad this year is over because you never know what the teacher will be like next year!
